Guildrun multiplayer and co-op
Everything you can play right now is solo. One co-op mode is coming with the full game, PvP is not coming at all, and the studio has been unusually blunt about why.
Is Guildrun multiplayer?
Not today. The demo is single-player and the Steam page lists nothing else. The full game will have a two player co-op mode, per the studio FAQ updated on 12 August 2026, and PvP is ruled out because the team wants to focus on PvE. The only shared thing right now is the leaderboards.
What exists today, and what is planned
The Steam page lists Single-player and nothing else, for both the demo and the unreleased full game, checked on 12 September 2026. Whatever co-op turns out to be, it has not reached the store page yet.
| Mode | Demo | Full game |
|---|---|---|
| Single player | Yes | Yes |
| Two player co-op | No | Planned |
| PvP | No | Ruled out |
| Online leaderboards | Yes | Expected |
| Steam category | Single-player only | Not yet updated |
Co-op: two players, and that is all that is confirmed
The studio FAQ updated on 12 August 2026 says the full game will have a two player co-op mode. That single sentence is the entire public record.
Nothing has been said about how it works: whether two players share one guild and split the decisions, run separate boards against the same rift, or something else. Anyone describing the mode in more detail than this is guessing, and you can check that against the FAQ yourself.
PvP is not a missing feature, it is the reason the game works
The FAQ is explicit: there are no plans for PvP, because the team wants to focus on the best PvE experience it can build. It is worth reading that as a design decision rather than a shortfall.
A run in Guildrun is meant to end somewhere absurd. Relics stack team-wide bonuses on every hero, add item slots to everyone at once, or grow a stat permanently every time a hero is hit. A balance team writing for player versus player would have to file all of that down until each piece was merely good.
The one thing other players can see: the leaderboards
The demo keeps three rankings, and they are the only place where your run meets anybody else. Two of them are tied to the version you are running and start again from zero when a patch ships; the third follows a win streak and lasts far longer.
Patch 0.5.7 added a display of your highest win streak and your total wins to the Red Rift screen, which is the closest the demo gets to a profile.
This is competition by scoreboard, not by fight. Nobody else is on your board, and nothing anyone else does affects your run.
Where the co-op announcement will land
Two places. The studio FAQ in the Steam discussions is where the current answer lives and where it has been edited before, and the Discord is where the studio says it will move the demo once it becomes a beta branch.
Weekly patch notes are not the place to watch. Since 25 August the demo content has been deliberately frozen, so the patches carry bug fixes while the full-release work happens out of sight.
