Item tier list

162 of the 163 items have a tier; only the Rift Seal, which marks the mode, is left out. Items are measured the same way as relics: across the runs players shared on 0.5.9 and 0.5.10, each one is compared half with its own rarity and half with its own family, so Rings meet Rings and Crests meet Crests, with a bonus for every strong published comp that equips it. On a carry, the right item decides the run; on the wrong hero, even an S tier piece does little.

Updated for patch 0.5.13

Which items do the strongest builds equip?

162 of the 163 items are rated, 19 of them S. Adrenal Eye tops the list, ahead of Viscera Collector, Thief's Dagger and Sentinel's Plate, the item players equip most often. Each item is compared with the ones that reach you at the same point of a run, because a late item is only ever held by runs that survived.

Questions people ask

Which items should I take?
The S tier ones, when they fit the hero holding them: Adrenal Eye, Viscera Collector, Thief's Dagger and Sentinel's Plate lead the list. But an item is only as good as its holder: a Rare that fits beats a Unique that does not.
Which hero should get the items?
One hero, the one carrying. Three good items on one hero beat one item each on three heroes.
Why does one item have no tier?
Only the Rift Seal has none. It marks the Red Rift mode rather than being picked, so no run shows what it adds on its own, and a tier for it would really rate the mode.
