Seven archetypes

Tank

A hero’s class decides two things that matter more than its stats: which upgrade pool it draws from at rank A and again at rank S, and which relics and items are built to support it. Seven classes, four heroes each, and a shared pool per class — so two heroes of the same class compete for the same upgrades. Each page below lists the heroes, both upgrade pools in full, and every relic and item that carries the class name.

Updated for patch 0.5.10

The Tank list is built around three mirrored pairs. Freezing Aura and Poisonous Aura put their status on whoever auto attacks the Tank, the two Restorations return 2 HP/S when that attacker already carries it, and the two Presences give Tanks +33% Defense against damage from enemies holding it. A hero gets one pick at rank A and a second at S, so Freezing Aura followed by Freezing Presence, or the Poison versions, lets one Tank apply a status and then profit from it.

High Defense, low Attack

All four Tanks sit at 52 Defense or more, the four highest values on the roster, while the next highest, Niklas, stops at 44. Attack is the weak number: a 31.75 average, below every class except Mystic and Mage. The Best Offense... closes part of that gap, and since 0.5.5 it gives Tanks 1 Attack and 1 Magic per 2 Defense instead of per 3, with Backup. Tank's Tower Shield grows the same stat, 2 Defense per Stall trigger in a Tank's hands.

Three in Stall Tanks

Stall Tanks, rated S, counts three: Skorn with Stalled Defense, Stall Certainty and the Tower Shield, Pimenta, and Gustav, a Mystic who gains the class through The Glacier and has paid 1 Attack Range for it since 0.5.2. Tank's Readiness Banner in that build makes Tank Stall abilities trigger 8 seconds faster, up from 6 before 0.5.5. In Debuff Mages, Rowan reaches rank S with Second Wind and Rear Support, whose Defense bonus for the whole team needs him in the back row.

Tank relics and items

18 entities carry the Tank name. They are built around what the class does, so they are the first place to look when you commit to it.

Questions people ask

Which heroes are Tank in Guildrun?
There are 4: Zuri, Rowan, Skorn, Pimenta. A hero can belong to more than one class, and some specializations grant a second class on top.
What upgrades can a Tank take?
The Tank pool has 15 upgrades at rank A and 15 at rank S. A hero takes one at rank A and another at rank S, and the two cannot be the same.
Which relics and items are made for Tank?
18 carry the class name. Their effects reference what the class does, so they scale with a guild built around it rather than with any team.
Do two heroes of the same class compete for the same upgrades?
Yes. The pool is per class, not per hero, so running two heroes of one class means splitting the same list of upgrades between them.
