Sal tier and best specialization

B

B tier on patch 0.5.12

Runs with Sal win among the best overall but fall to the lower half on SSS difficulty, and player lists split between A and C on her, which lands at B. She plays in Debuff Duelists on The Breezy.

Plays in these tier list comps

Tiers are reviewed by hand after each patch (latest: 0.5.12), weighing the runs players share, most of them in Red Rift, the comps that clear the high difficulties, current player tier lists and recent balance changes. All 25 heroes side by side are on the hero tier list.

Sal's attacks hit a second enemy next to her target and the effect stacks — she is the Mage who works through auto attacks instead of casts. That makes her the cheapest Frost source in the game to run, and the only Mage whose value rises with Attack Speed.

Burn and Frost from one Mage

Sal becomes a Duelist through The Breezy, which also gives her 20 Attack Speed and 1 range, lifting her from 2 to 3. Its passive grows on Debuffs: whenever a Mage or Duelist inflicts one, that hero gains 1 Attack Speed and 1 Magic per rank. Patch 0.5.2 took away the flat point of Magic it used to add on top. Debuff Duelists takes her to rank A on this spec.

The Duelist class also opens the Duelist upgrade pool, which is where her rank A pick in that build comes from. Burning Attacks inflicts 1 Burn plus 1 per 33 Attack Speed on every auto attack, up to 10, alongside the Frost Permafrost already inflicts. Being a Duelist also lets her auto attacks trigger Duelist's Outbreak Banner, the relic that pays per Debuff type on the target. Freezing Contract makes her Frost 20% larger once she has inflicted 200, and two Sigil add 10 Attack Speed and 7 Omnivamp each.

Sitting behind Pimenta

The Lover is written for one partner. Heroes directly in front of Sal permanently gain 20 Defense when combat starts, and Pimenta gains 20 more. Pimenta's own Lover mirrors it: 15 Attack Speed for heroes directly behind her, and 15 more for Sal. In Debuff Duelists Pimenta takes that spec, so a Sal placed directly behind her starts with 30 permanent Attack Speed from it.

The Brisk goes the other way, adding the Warrior class and 50 Attack. Permafrost's bonus damage can then Crit, each Crit inflicts 1 Frost plus 1 per rank, and every cast gives her Crit equal to 33% of her Attack plus 33% of her Magic. Patch 0.5.3 slowed her base attack rate from 0.45 to 0.42.

What Sal gains per rank

A hero climbs C → B → A → S — 3 upgrades in all. Every stat rises at the same rate on every hero, with one exception: the primary stat of the class rises three to four times faster. For Sal that stat is Magic.

Stat gains per rank and total from C to S for Sal.
StatsPer rankC → S
Health+12.5%+37.5%
Defence+8+24
Attack+6+18
Magicprimary+25+75
Attack speed+5+15
Crit+4+12
Mana regen+1+3

Health rises as a percentage of base health; every other stat is a flat addition. The specialization is chosen at rank B, and the class modifier pools open at A and S.

Starting ability

Permafrost Active

Sal empowers her attacks, causing them to also hit the nearest enemy to Sal's target, dealing 10 (+50% Magic) bonus damage and inflicting 1 (+1 per Rank) Frost. This ability stacks.

Specializations

A hero unlocks one of these at rank B. The choice is locked for the run, and it decides which role the hero ends up playing.
